And genuinely one of the BEST gigs I have ever been to (and I’ve seen a few..)
I went along knowing The XX’s first album quite well, and was expecting a fairly spaced out, relaxed kind of night. But their new music was just incredible. The visuals were awesome, they sounded INDESCRIBABLY GOOD. They actually sounded better live than recorded in some songs.
They gave us a bit of a preview of some new songs from their forthcoming album “Coexist” as well – some definitely more house-y tracks, big beats but still blissfully smooth lyrics and vocals. Can’t wait to crank that very loud very soon.
The XX are going to be back “soon”, they say. If you can, SEE THEM. Even if you aren’t a huge fan of their work so far, if you like electronic music, they are a must see.
